Hi guys. Bit of a daft question, but I can't a stuff get this DC++ to run through to oceanmaster(hope his stuff is running again)

Wot is the IP of the file server? I also can't seem to ping much more than the RB's at each users place, is there something I could be missing?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi fraser, My link and most others on the net are working very well.

firstly, get google talk and add me so you can chat with us...

    zvandeventer at gmail dot com
Once you msg me there I will help you further to connect.

If you can't ping our machines then there is a problem. Firstly we need to make a route for you.

you need to add all the network as static routes to your rb and pc

all the other RB's need to add your network.

Cool, I have added all the routes on my RB already. I have also added a route to my RB on the LMH tower.
So maybe it is just on the other guys have not added my network? Hoping to log in with the boss a bit later and check it over.

problem here is the total lock of a routing info protocol ( bgp, rip or ospf ) so everyone has to add your network to their routes before they'll see your network ( or you theirs ). Im working on getting bgp up and running, but i need all routers to at least be past version 40 ( most current is 51 ) as certain fixes in the routing protocols are needed

by version 40 you mean wot exactly? doing a bit of reading now on ospf and bgp just to get a better idea. I take it this will take away the need for individual routing to each user on the towers, and so on. Kind of enjoying learning this routing story, a butt load to know, but rather interesting.

for now everybody can add 0.0.0.0/0 route to their boards with the towers wireless IP as the gateway...that will solve all problems for now...just the tower can have static routes...stations only needs the 1 default root. ;)

    nooooooooooooooo
that WILL buggerup everyones internet connections

everyone except Oceanmaster and the towers can use add route 172.21.0.0/16 gateway 172.21.254.1

oceanmaster has two outgoing networks on the 172.21 range an thus cannot use that catchall

    ok - ive just checked
lmh, ocean and myself have your routes in.
so your routerboard should be able to ping to us at least.

for DC++ your PC needs to be able to connect aswell. of your pc does not have default gateway pointing to your routerboard then you need to add a route to it on your pc

    route add 172.21.0.0 MASK 255.255.0.0 172.21.3.177

im assuming the lan ip of your routerboard is .177

once you have that then your pc should be able to connect aswell.
