I am a bit far from the tower to get a stable connection with the NS-2. Works really well though.

Where are you located? -- We are in Water Rd -- between 10th and 11th ave. The plot shows we are only 4.6k's away. U think it will work ok for us?

Oceanmaster, have you still got the PCMCIA wireless card, and is it dual band. I need a dual band.

I will check the wireless pcmcia card, and post here again tomorrow. About the yagi, I will do that Dave but I REALLY don't think it's gonna cut it for you 5km away!

I am thinking 29db grid for you.. and then your signal should shoot up!

I am looking for a startup kit and like the idea of as much DIY as possible - rather than an all-in-the-box solution.
Does anyone have any spare equipment they are interested in selling?
I live in Charlo about 1.5km from LMH so I dont think I need a monster antenna.

Brad, if you want DIY you can do it mostly that way...

Grant made an omni that managed to connect from Westering to Theesecombe.. only out of LMR 400 cable cut and soldered to specific lengths.. took about 4 hours but cost next to nothing :)

With a small 90 degree backing plate its more then directional enough to connect you.

As for the routerboard you can always start with the smallest one, then you just need the cable with connectors, box, pole & power supply!
