What do you guys think of the idea of a list of the costs vs what we are receiving for each tower / proposed tower.

That way we have a goal to work towards...?

Also, although we have thus far decided not to implement user joining fees, now that the towers are up in the areas with most users, in order to finance more towers in other areas we could start looking at other sources of income.. incl joining fees.

I say this because Dewald and I have access to some nice high sites but don't have capital to build towers with.

We are lookin to build a high site at Greenacres for example.

I don't think joining fees are a good idea.

What is the WUG for? If I am not mistaken, its to lean about the technology and the implementing of large networks.

If we start charging people to connect it starts looking like a warez ring of file shares and gamers. Not to mention that we will be offering a service.

I think we need to let the user group grow at natural pace. If there are people out there wanting to learn they will contribute.

im totally against the idea of charging for access. If you needs funds for a hi-site, tell us about the site, and what your needs are and we can decide if we can fund it ourselves.

I agree with Hilton and Devillj. I think charging a "joining fee" could scare off possable connectors, and can also cause problems with keeping money safe. We also can't sit in credit at suppliers, many of them don't dig that to much. we should stick to the idea to all pitch in to build a high site. I know that some people have spent a hell of a lot of money to get the Wug to where it is.

Well I am glad I got a reply on this issue cause there are a few guys that have been pestering me to push it and now they more then I can see that there are more then just one or two members who feel strongly againsed this.

Thanks for your input. I had to be sure (although I knew Hilton mentioned he was againsed it a while back I was not sure what the general feeling is at present).

In any event, this brings up the main reason I started this post.. and that is to try to bring some order and transparency to the financing of the towers.

Do you think maybe we could easier motivate the guys to collect money if we had a list of required items and / or monies needed for that tower if we had a list that is ticked off as materials/money is received?

Well the only one who has been receiving any money has been Hilton so he would need to do it.

Hilton if you don't have time let us know cause I am sure a breakdown for each tower would be the best.. to motivate the guys in that area.

    Thanks

Can I pay directly into the WUG account at Digital? If so, just let me pay the bills for the month and I'll see wot I can put towards it.

I have fitted the bills out of my own pocket (I have the invoices to prove if there are any doubts). Therefore if anyone would like to make a contribution they can PM me and I will give you my bank details.
