    The IPs are for any PC/server/router that is visible to the WUG. All other IPs on your personal network can be in your own range e.g. 192.168.0.1

    This means that you have more freedom... like say for example you have 5 friends over to game, they can all directly join to the wug and game / voip / whatever directly, ie. without natting.

    Natting is horrible :)

    if youre natting youre connection to the wug, then you can have any range you want on your own lan. If youre NOT natting, then you should stic to the wug allocated ip's.

    The reason for this is as follows. If youre using 192.168.1.2 for your pc, cause your adsl modem is 192.168.1.1 ( in most cases ) and someone else on the network has the same ip ( highly probable because they have also have an adsl modem ) then youre going to bring the whole network to a standstill everytime something tries to talk to one of your pc's or your pc tries to talk on the wug. Duplicate ip's are bad. Duplicate networks addresses can take the while thing down.

    With NAT, the WUG never sees your private range so its a no-brainer.

    As soon as i hear of someone joining the wug i'll add an ip range for them on the jawug wiki page ( till we get our own wiki pages - X is working on that )

    Also, the current assignment gives you a 16 address block. 3 of those are taken up by your RB, the Network, and Broadcast. That leaves you with 13 Addresses. If this is not eough ( like for me, i only have 2 addresses free after adding all my stuff, we can add bigger ranges.

    In my case, im going to nat those devices that dont need to see the wug directly ( like my colour laser printer ;-) ) to free up some address space.

    I think I get it now,
    If the router is in bridge mode then the wug LAN ip's allocated should be used but if NAT is used lan ip's can be anything.
    Correct ?

    @Dave001

    My recommendation would be to not use bridge mode but to rather route the entire network as this will allow direct connections with the WUG. If you choose to use NAT all the PCs behind the Wlan interface can have any IP range of your choice as we will only see the IP of the Wlan interface.
